All Signs
Note: These horoscopes are once again late. I will be working to get myself back on track by Sept. 18. Thanks for your patience. 🙂

Western culture has long since moved away from being community and family centred to being individually centred. For example: capitalism fosters individual wealth as opposed to wealth of a community, we increasingly do not trust our neighbours, we rarely share deeply or honestly with others, and children are forgotten by the wayside when faced with loss or lack of family members. We forget that through sharing, through working and truly being real and open with our fellow human beings, we can learn and grow as individuals and as a group.
Pierre Bourdieu, a prominent French sociologist, anthropologist, and philosopher, wrote that the habitus—or the societal norms and individual actions within these norms and the prevalent culture at large—are dictated by the movements and decisions of our predecessors. In other words, we act within a framework of predefined “immanent law, lex insita, laid down in each agent by his earliest upbringing, which is the precondition not only for the co-ordination of practices, but also for practices of co-ordination, since the corrections and adjustments the agents themselves consciously carry out presuppose their mastery of a common code and since undertakings of collective mobilization cannot succeed without a minimum of concordance between the habitus of the mobilizing agents (e.g. prophet, party leader, etc.) and the dispositions of those whose aspirations and world-view they express.”
Bourdieu goes on to state that the “personal syle, the particular stamp marking all the products of the same habitus, whether practices or works, is never more than a deviation in relation to the style of a period or class so that it relates back to the common style not only by its conformity—like Phidias, who, according to Hegel, had no “manner”—but also by the difference which makes the whole “manner”” (Anthropology in Theory: Issues in Epistemology 2011: pp. 411 and 414).
But what if we could break out of the constraints of the habitus? What if we could be rebel enough to be aware of our own social conditioning and decide to change it. Through being consciously aware of our actions and our intent to open up lines deliberate lines of communication stemming outward from our intent as individual and yet one-with-everything beingnesses, we break old patterns and pave the way for others to do the same.
This kind of action is being seen more and more with movements like equal marriage rights for gay/bi/transgender, bullying, environmental movements and concerns, and many others.
However, we must work to open and expand more on an individual level. We must learn to let others in, open our hearts and beings, and be completely real with who we are and accepting of the true selves of others. This takes courage, no matter how you look at it. We are all scared of being vulnerable. And like the old proverb says: you can only love others if first you love yourself.
Aries – Mar. 21 to Apr. 19
Your inner voice is talking to you with a pretty loud voice lately, Aries. Can you hear what it’s telling you, or are you doing your best to ignore it? Well, I’m just here to say that you might want to listen. The whole thing you do with retreating inward, trusting no-one, and forming opinions and views from past hurts simply isn’t working anymore. You need to put on your listening cap and learn to really hear what others are saying. Truths that you need to hear about yourself are being reflected back to you by those around you. You have the potential to discover some pretty beautiful things and rid yourself of past pain by doing so.
Taurus – Apr. 20 to May 20
If you’re feeling like doing something you haven’t in a long while, you’re right on track. Now is not the time to do what everyone expects of you and play the good girl/boy game. Now is the time for you to step out, be bold, be courageous, wear bright colours, go dancing, start a creative project, go for an adventure, laugh loud, and live freely. Your brilliance, the potential of your being, will shine the brightest through letting your inner rebel out of its cage. And hey, how fun is that?
Gemini – May 21 to Jun. 20
Love is not about ownership or control. Often, love is about letting go. I know this is a hard lesson to learn, but it’s a valuable one. You can’t force anyone to love you, any more than you can force a snail to run. And this isn’t just true for relationships, it’s also true for y0ur career path, for the choices you make, and the things you acquire. It’s true that sometimes we have to fight for what we want, but we also have to recognize when something isn’t working and when we have to let go in order for other possibilities to blossom. My advice to you this week is to practice releasing the grip you have around those things that matter to you. Learn to see other’s perspectives and trust that the universe is on your side.
Cancer – Jun. 21 to Jul. 22
Your problem this week is similar to Gemini’s, but with a bit of a difference. Both of you are learning what love truly means to you, but for you it is more about knowing that true love can only properly function when there are no illusions. This means that if you want that pure, passionate, unbound love you desire with your whole heart to really work in a long-term relationship—or with your career, friends, and family—you need to be real about all aspects of those relationships. If you hide things you’ve done, things you are concerned about, or don’t own up to what you need, you are going to sabotage the relationship. True love isn’t a fantasy, true love takes hard work, being who you are in every moment, and compromising so that everyone gets what they need.
Leo – Jul. 23 to Aug. 22
Oh Leo, you are your most brilliant self when you are participating in acts of play. I know you know this, but sometimes you get confused because you think you are not living up to other’s expectations of you. However, practicality and play can be synonymous. All it takes is awareness and integrity. If you know, in your heart of hearts, that you are not hurting anyone and that you are doing what compels you and you are acting from that precious place of dreaming deep within, you can’t go wrong. The world needs you to shine your light, to stir the pot, and to show us that life isn’t all dire and depressing. So keep on shining, Leo!
Virgo – Aug. 23 to Sept. 22
Now is the perfect time for you to reinvent yourself, Virgo. So if you find yourself being drawn to spending time alone contemplating life and your role in it, don’t fight it. Maybe you should even take some notes, get creative, and push aside your fear of the unknown. Just remember that what you are looking for can’t be found outside of yourself. The rebirth that is taking place is all happening on the inside and is about you coming to recognize who you are as an individual with more strength and clarity than you’ve ever had before. Now, just so you really get the point, this rebirth does not have to be scary, does not have to be drastic, and does not need to mean an upheaval in your life. This rebirth could very well be about changing certain perceptions you have about the world, deciding you want to launch a new project, or simply coming to understand that you need more time with your loved one. In any case, ride the wave and enjoy.
Libra – Sept. 23 to Oct. 22
OK, Libra, it’s time to step out of your comfort zone. But first you need to admit that right now you are fairly unsure of many aspects of your life, which has left you feeling rather confused about what direction to go in. Once you have digested that piece of information, let’s look at the solution. Now, you may not consider yourself an artistic person, but in whatever way you feel you can express yourself creatively, now is the time to do so. Experiment, play, dabble. Don’t hold any expectations. Don’t compare yourself to others. Simply practice the art of creating what wants to be expressed from your heart. I guarantee that doing so will help to alleviate stress, allow brainstorming and thus new ideas to occur in terms of solutions to problems, and will help you feel fulfilled and proud of yourself
Scorpio – Oct. 23 to Nov. 21
The force is strong with this sign. No joke, Scorpio. As long as you act from your gut and stay in tune with your source, you will receive what you need from the world and the universe. (Meaning you will feel both practically/financially and spiritually fulfilled.) There’s a power burning in your belly, I know you can feel it. And even though things might feel scary, overwhelming, or even impossible, you are not letting any of that get you down right now. And I’m here to encourage you and be your cheerleading squad. Go, Scorpio, go! P.S. If you run into trouble, i.e., you feel stuck emotionally, things don’t go the way you planned, you are met with walls instead of doors, go back to your centre, focus on what truly matters to you and those you love, and act from there.
Sagittarius – Nov. 22 to Dec. 21
Change is taking place in your life right now, isn’t it? And it’s not just little change, it’s everything all at once. This means that you are under a considerable amount of stress and you feel like you’re going in a million directions at once. But don’t give up. Change is always hard especially when it takes us out of our comfort zone, but things will settle down again and when they do you, you will be ever so glad that you didn’t shy away from the challenge. The place you were before this change began to occur was a place of too much compromise; you were not able to be who you really are and you felt restricted and generally not seen by others. However, once the process of transformation has finished its cycle, you will come to see that you are able to rectify all of those issues and truly shine.
Capricorn – Dec. 22 to Jan. 19
You might want to slow down the activity in your external life, Capricorn. Prioritize those things that matter most, or those things that really do need your attention, and forget the rest for a while. In order to avoid getting trapped in a future that is not conducive to your dreams, or what you really want, you need to turn inwards and do some serious soul searching. Something about the path you are on at this time isn’t right, or doesn’t fit with your heart’s desires. Reassess your motives, be clear about what you want, and don’t do anything because others think you should, because you are too afraid to face the truth, or because you are undervaluing yourself. I feel the need to remind you that this latter point happens all too often. And it’s never worked out well, has it?
Aquarius – Jan. 20 to Feb. 18
Your will, or your intent, has once again come into a time where it does not have any long-term agenda. For you, the most appealing course of action is to live in the moment, without any cares about the future. The more that you can follow this intent, the more you will actually feel that things are going your way; things and events will fall into place and you will have a sense of synchronicity. Now, for those of you who have nine to five jobs, this is going to prove challenging. However, you can set your intent to allow for more of this moment-to-moment type of action in your downtime, and you will still find it fulfilling. Also bear in mind, whether you work a regular job or not, that this isn’t an invitation to abandon all responsibility and go into “party mode”. Rather, it’s about letting the spontaneous movements of your heart have enough free rein to become unbounded by your own personal judgment.
Pisces – Feb. 19 to Mar. 20
It’s called learn-as-you-go, Pisces. That’s what this next phase of your life is all about. You can’t predict the future, no matter how much you try. The only thing you can do is trust your gut and keep on moving. Use your creative abilities to guide you. Do what feels right. And for goodness sake, stop questioning yourself so much! Just like you can’t predict the future, you can’t be perfect all the time, nor can you be everything to everyone. (Even though I know you like to try.) So, I know that confusion is dominating your consciousness right now—you have no idea which way to turn—but I’m telling you, the only way out is to do what feels right in the moment. The universe—and your loved ones—has your back.
